Bel Vino!

Uncorked! members were treated to a taste of Italy Thursday night at the Nashville City Club. The wine selections included M Chiarlo Cortese di Gavi, Nozzole Chiani, Cabreo and a M Chiarlo Nivole Moscato. 
In the banquet hall, guests began their Tour of Italy in the Peidmont region with M Chiarlo Cortese di Gavi paired with Cozze-steamed PEI mussels in a spicy tomato basil broth, sambuca and grilled bread.  The next stop in the tour featured a Tuscan Nozzole Chianti  paired with a green salad, zucchini, basil and white balsamic vinaigrette. “Pairing a red wine with a salad can be a daring move,” said Michelle from Horizon Wine and Spirits who provided the offerings.  “Everyone’s palette is drastically different; it’s about what works for you. It’s all in what you taste and what you think.”
After an Intermezzo of watermelon sorbet, Chef Toby presented an ossobucco-braised veal shank, saffron risotto and a reserved lemon gremolta. The entrée was served with Cabreo, “the star of the night,” a super Tuscan red wine which is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The evening came to an end with a return to the Piedmont region. The slightly effervescent Nivole Muscato, with hints of white chocolate, nectarine and peaches complimented a dessert of white chocolate tiramisu.
